How much is the STC solar rebate in 2025?+
The STC (Small-scale Technology Certificate) rebate is calculated based on your system size, your CEC zone, and the current STC spot price. In 2025 the spot price is approximately $38β$40 per certificate (capped at $40 via the Clearing House). A 6.6kW system in Zone 3 (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide) earns roughly 54β60 STCs, giving a rebate of approximately $2,100β$2,400. A 6.6kW system in Zone 2 (Brisbane, Cairns) earns more certificates and would save approximately $2,700β$3,200. PowerLine Solar calculates your exact rebate when we prepare your personalised quote β and we show you the workings.
What is the new federal battery rebate (Cheaper Home Batteries Program)?+
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Federal Government extended the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to cover home batteries β this is called the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. It delivers approximately 30% off eligible battery systems (5kWhβ100kWh) connected to new or existing solar. The rebate was ~$372/kWh at launch, reduced to ~$300/kWh from January 2026, with further changes proposed from 1 May 2026. Both FOXess and GoodWe batteries we supply are eligible for this program. The discount is applied directly to your invoice β no paperwork needed from you.
Can I claim both the solar STC rebate and the battery rebate?+
Yes β if you purchase a solar + battery system, you can receive both the solar STC rebate (based on your panel system) AND the battery rebate (~30% off the battery). These two rebates are separate and can be stacked. Some state-based rebates (NSW Peak Demand Reduction, WA Residential Battery Scheme) may also be stackable on top of the federal rebate. Ask us to confirm what applies to your postcode when we prepare your quote.
What is the 10-year workmanship warranty and what does it cover?+
Our workmanship warranty is separate from the manufacturer product warranties. It covers any defect in how your system was physically installed by our SAA-accredited installer β including roof penetration leaks, wiring faults, mounting issues, earthing defects, or any compliance-related concern with the installation itself. If a problem arises within 10 years due to how the system was installed (not from storm, vandalism or normal wear), we rectify it at no cost to you. This warranty is provided in writing with every job.
Which panel brand should I choose β Jinko, Neo, or Risen?+
All three are Tier 1, CEC-approved manufacturers and all carry a 25-year performance warranty and 15-year product warranty. Jinko is the world's #1 selling panel brand by volume β a globally recognised name with extensive Australian history. Neo Solar offers premium efficiency ratings with excellent warranty backing. Risen Energy is a cost-effective Tier 1 option ideal for budget-conscious customers who still want proven technology. In practice, all three 475W panels perform comparably β the choice often comes down to personal preference or budget. We'll recommend based on your roof layout and goals.
Does PowerLine Solar install the system, or is it a third party?+
PowerLine Solar manages the entire process as your solar retailer β including design, rebate calculation, equipment supply, grid connection application, and post-installation support. Physical installation is carried out by our network of SAA-accredited and state-licenced electrical contractors. This is standard practice across Australia's solar industry (similar to how builders use licensed subcontractors). Regardless of who physically installs the system, PowerLine Solar remains your single point of accountability, including for our 10-year workmanship warranty.
How long does installation take from signing to switch-on?+
Typically 2β4 weeks from deposit to commissioning. After you approve your proposal, we submit the grid connection application to your network distributor (which typically takes 5β15 business days). Once approval is received, we schedule your installation and arrange equipment delivery. The physical installation itself takes 1 day for most residential systems. We keep you updated at every step via email and phone.
Do I have a cooling-off period if I change my mind?+
Yes. Under Australian Consumer Law and the CEC Solar Retailer Code of Conduct, you have a 10-business-day cooling-off period from the date you sign the contract. During this time you may cancel without penalty and receive a full refund of your deposit. We are required to explain this right to you at the point of sale, and we do so clearly on every contract.
